  • What is Lifeboat Alliance?

    Lifeboat Alliance is a Christian ministry that helps homeless men, women and families weather life's storms. Our shelter is located in Mt. Vernon, IL, but we service all of Southern Illinois.

  • Do you provide meals?

    Yes, we provide 3 meals a day.  We also will pack your lunch or supper if you are not in the building due to being at work. Our meal donors are the absolute best! You can expect to be well-fed.

  • Will I have house chores?

    Yes, guests are assigned chores weekly. Helping with chores is a way to bless others and create a dignifying environment to live in.

  • Will I have my own caseworker?

    Yes, each guest is assigned a caseworker to aid in support during their stay.

  • Do you provide transportation?

    Yes, we provide bus tickets to and from work & medical appointments.

  • Will you help me find a job?

    Yes, we will assist you in the job prep area should you need assistance with online applications.  We also have a list of employers to refer you to.

  • Is there curfew?

    Yes, there is curfew.  Single adults curfew through the week is 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weekends.  Family curfew is 8 p.m. on weekdays during school and 10 p.m. on weekends.  In the summer, it is 9 p.m. for families.

  • Can I cook in the kitchen?

    No, cooking must be done by staff or volunteers.

  • What do I need to bring to live at the shelter?

    Only your clothing and prescription medications.

  • Do I need to do my laundry before admissions?

    No, all laundry must go through our laundry once you are admitted.
